Apple announced a new lineup of iPads and Apple Watches on Tuesday and a subscription service for fitness classes that can be bundled with other Apple services such as Arcade, Music, iCloud, and News+.
The new iPad Air has a 10.9-inch display and a faster processing chip than its predecessors. It comes in all sorts of new colors and will go on sale later this month.
The new Apple Watch Series 6 has a blood oxygen sensor and a family mode that allows children to use the Apple Watch for connection with parents and family without the need for an iPhone. Apple also unveiled a more affordable Apple Watch SE, starting at $279, compared to $399 for the Series 6. New Watch bands were also unveiled.
Apple Fitness+ will have virtual exercise classes for iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV and work with all of the new Apple Watch body metrics. It will cost $9.99 per month, but it can be bundled with Apple’s other services such as Apple services such as Apple TV+, Arcade, Music, iCloud, and News for $29.99 per month per family. This is a bargain when compared to Peloton’s $39 per month price tag and shares of the fitness company dropped precipitously on this news. Peloton played it cool, though, saying on Twitter that the company welcomed some “friendly competition.”
