Just The Tip

Americans have become cheap tippers since the pandemic. A recent survey shows that 25% of Americans are simply not tipping at all.

During lockdowns, many people began tipping take-out or delivery staff more generously out of empathy for the restaurant business. So now that’s gone out the window? People report tipping less frequently for things like food delivery and coffee shops.

The bad tippers are concentrated in younger generations. Millennials and Generation Z are reported to be the lousiest tippers while Baby Boomers and the Silent Generation almost always tip.

“Delivery people and food industry workers literally risked their lives to do their jobs over the past 16 months,” said analyst Ted Rossman. “It has been an incredibly difficult time to work in the service industry.”

So tip better, will ya?
